I wouldn't make a firm conclusion without first visiting. I have spent about 18 months in India, with several months-long trips to Thailand and Malaysia, and one three-month trip to Taiwan and one three-month trip to Vietnam (only the tourist beach town of Danang/Da Nang). I wish I could afford to visit places like Norway, Singapore, and Japan. Of the places I have visited, I enjoyed Vietnam the most, with Taiwan as a close 2nd. And all the people in Taiwan tell me that Japan is a better place.
