ok at this point I’m sure if a mod sees this somewhat waste of space then the forum URL will actually become a 404 error page

I actually agree with bunyip. If you really don’t know what a 404 error is, Google and Wikipedia are both better places to find out than here, because you can get a more detailed answer more quickly — win/win. 🤷 There is no upside to asking here instead; you have to wait for people to respond, and half of them will be as clueless as you. Plus here, it’s equivalent to spam because it’s getting in the way of less mundane, inherently more interesting topics in the listing. So by calling this thread a “waste of space,” I don’t think he was being rude, so much as simply stating a fact.
When it comes to something like this, I humbly suggest that you try to leave emotion out of it, and just be logical like Mʳ Spock or Mʳ Data. When people state facts, if they happen to be facts then there is nothing “mean” about stating them. 🤷 That’s all in your head. Language is just a tool for communicating. What people say matters, and why they say it matters, but 𝘩𝘰𝘸 they say it is largely irrelevant (especially for non-native English speakers). Get over it. We should all try to be more like bunyip, who is too old to bother with unnecessary ornamentation in the words he uses. (And good for him, I say. I wish I could be so succinct!)

It's good though, your #33 but
It's pretty hard to differentiate facts from opinions though @pawnedge
It's mean to say that "person a is ugly" even though you think it's a fact, right?
It's better if there was a fact differentiator of some sort, I guess

404 Is The Number Of Internal Server Error Or Page Not Found, No Matter What Country It Is.

№ 34,
I don’t think it’s usually that hard to distinguish facts from opinions.
It's mean to say that "person a is ugly" even though you think it's a fact, right?
Actually, ugliness is (at least partly) subjective. 🤷 Also, that concerns someone’s person; whereas a 404 error is objective and impersonal, by definition. So I don’t think it’s the best comparison.
If bunyip had said 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 a waste of space, that’s very different from saying 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 is a waste of space. You know? Taking impersonal comments personally is the whole problem. If we could all simply manage not to do that, fewer feelings would be hurt, regardless of what’s said.
Just my 2¢.

@NaturalBornTraveller #28
My radish updates are in the Inane and Pointless threads...where they belong.
I actually do know what the 404 notification is.
My #12, 14, 16, 19 posts are all straight statements of fact.
#26 is plain English.. I find it amazing that you can't follow it.
Thank you for the free advertising of the I+P franchise
I am indeed the age I claim to be, and I am quite prepared to verify it with Lichess Administration.
I advise you to be somewhat more circumspect with your insults and public shamings.
"You don't get to dictate how the forums should operate. ".... but you do?. lol

To answer the question from #1 (and further explained in#3)
What is the origin of the error code: 404.
(Not the meaning, but why those numbers?)
(This was done, in Cailliau’s telling, “according to the whims of the programmer.” Client errors fell into the 400 range, making “404” a relatively arbitrary assignation for “not found.” Cailliau was adamant: “404 was never linked to any room or any physical place at CERN,” he wrote. “That’s a complete myth.”
