Because 404 is what you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.
The 404 Not Found error might appear for several reasons even though no real issue exists, so sometimes a simple refresh will often load the page you were looking for. Check for errors in the URL. Often times this error appears because the URL was typed wrong or the link that was selected points to the wrong URL.

A 404 error message is a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) status code indicating the server could not find the requested website. In other words, your web browser can connect with the server, but the specific page you're trying to access can't be reached.

The codes were defined by web inventor Tim Berners-Lee in 1992, based on the ones used for File Transfer Protocol in which codes beginning with 4 are essentially errors. The first 4 of the HTTP “404” actually indicates a client error like a misspelled URL or a moved page.
