John is looking at Mary.
Mary is looking at Paul.
John is married. Paul is unmarried.

Is a married person looking at an unmarried person?
Yes, because John is married, and therefore must be married to Mary, since Paul is unmarried.
Mary is married to John, and she is looking at Paul
Therefore, Mary (married) is looking at Paul (unmarried)
