Ah, @water22 , so in #20 you express hope for yet another round of impotent impeachment?
I suppose that would be a mixed blessing. On the one hand, it would (yet again) fail to achieve anything other than to demonstrate the sad obsession that has seized so many Democrats in political life. But on the other, it would preoccupy and keep the Democrats from acting in any other, potentially more harmful, way.
Politics has become a palace of irony. Many Democrats scream about "affordability" while prices largely reflect the vast inflation that occurred during Biden's term, even as Trump's administration has seen the price of energy fall dramatically and has achieved good growth with moderate inflation. And even as the news (real news) recently reports that HUGE amounts of waste and abuse have occurred under some Democrat oversight.
But I suppose many don't see that news. Some sources don't like to dwell on any news that doesn't fit their political narrative. Which is why it's crucial, in order to avoid being unintentionally confused and herded, to learn from a much wider variety of sources than many commonly permit themselves to view.
Living in a bubble might be good for the immune-deficient. But I wouldn't recommend it for most.
Incidentally, @water22 , I am happy to see you involved, too. I especially value adversaries in debate who, like you, can remain polite and don't have to resort to personal attack. Or at least that is how it seems to me at the moment.
Polite, non-personal political adversaries are always as welcome as they seem to be in limited supply. They provide the antithesis that can help us all to a reasonable, middle-of-the-road synthesis. Neither Left nor Right is always "right," after all.
What's sad is the extent to which some would disagree with this post's penultimate sentence.
