The personal story of filmmaker Jen Senko who saw her normal and friendly dad ~~with a spaniel~~ slowly transform into a hateful man obsessed with rightwing politics.
Apparently a lot of people share the same experience of losing a loved one or friend to the deep end evil side of the political spectrum.

It's Sad & True ... trying to use scapegoating to make money but also flat - out hatred towards certain groups of people like Jewish people back in the 1930s & throughout history . People who seem to know right from wrong lose their heads in such situations ... there really is no excuse as all the same signs pop up throughout history . The book The Prince has the same song , story & story-line being played over & over
It appears to be some on the Left who most attack Israel and its wonderful population and their supporters in the United States -- not anybody's "right wing daddy." You realize that, right?
If not, try to find an unpleasant protest or college occupation in the news, either live or recently recorded ... and just look. Given that you chose to comment in this particular thread, let me ask: do you see a lot of Republican daddies trashing campuses or unfairly blocking the passage of Jewish students, @ThunderClap?
I certainly don't. I don't know any Republican daddies who think or act like that -- not even remotely.
It's been almost a full century since the 1930s: life has moved on, fortunately.
Does anybody REALLY think that it's somebody's Republican daddy who has screamed "free free Palestine" in response to October 7? Once again: such perceptions can be checked with one's eyes better than with one's preconceptions. Just look.

But please notice that such reactions are not, by themselves, real debate. Real debate requires making a genuine, coherent argument. If there are real counterarguments that can be made, why not just make them?

And this is maybe too personal a question but I'll ask anyway; do you have kids or a significant other ? (spaniels don't count).
Do they find it hard to cope with you and your opinions ? Would you even notice it if they did ?

Your questions to me have nothing to do with the topic, @wowbagger. Trying to make the post about me simply distracts from what I said.
You just wrote "Free Palestine." I don't think you are somebody's older Republican daddy, but it's none of my business so I won't ask and don't care. The substance of the debate isn't, or at least shouldn't get, personal, in my opinion.
@Noflaps, did you even watch the video? Or at least look at small snippets of it? Because judging by your post, you seem to merely be hijacking @wowbagger's forum topic about a specific anecdote about someone's father and transforming it into an attack on the left wing. Also, how convenient that you deliberately ignore @ThunderClap's specific usage of Jewish discrimination "in the 1930s" and not the modern era.
Instead of paying attention and analyzing what wowbagger said, you completely ignored it. So why should anyone even listen to whatever you have to say at this point at this point.
Why do you think the words "with a spaniel" was left in post #1, but "crossed out" in a way that left it obviously visible, @InkyDarkBird? When I wish to edit a post, I have no trouble making words that I wish to eliminate simply disappear for real -- not stay visible. And do you realize that post #1 took care to note that the subject was a man who favored "rightwing politics."
That was followed by @ThunderClap 's post -- which, despite the context created by post #1, talked about hatred toward Jews -- something that, in 2025, is NOT arising predominately from Republican fathers. Which is all I pointed out, being otherwise content not to respond to the first post that for some reason displayed a reference to a "spaniel." You'll note that post #4 referenced "spaniels" too.
I'm willing to discuss substance. But that's it. I'm not the topic. Furthermore, I have nothing to learn here, since I support Israel and detest anti-semitism.
I tire of discussions turning personal. I don't need to get personal, and I don't appreciate attempts to make debate personal. I try not to do that and try to stick to logic and facts -- and, fortunately, logic and facts are usually available.

Acting under the guise of discussing substance is foolish @Noflaps, we both know that. In the last few times I've talked with you, you immediately assumed that people were publicly mocking Charlie Kirk's death without evidence, refused to believe the statistics from your very own source that the crime rate being down in Washington DC was directly caused by Trump sending troops there and not just following the past yearly trend of crime going down in general (as well as criticizing my sources until you eventually provided yours), believing that RFK Jr. isn't anti-vax (look how that aged, huh, ruining our effective vaccine schedule), etc. You refuse to properly accept information.
And then you always try to inject Biden when the topic is about Trump or how the left is actually evil when someone criticizes the right or talk about some random off-topic thing, like coastline sea levels, all politicians being stupid, or in this case, a few arbitrary crossed-out words.

And as far as the reference to a "spaniel" (twice, in both posts 1 and 4) that's a question you could ask @wowbagger if you wish. After all, it was he who chose to use the word in two different posts in this thread, despite the fact that it seems to have nothing to do with the topic. Do you think my previously revealed pet spaniel is just coincidence?
I won't hold my breath waiting for an answer. I refrained from responding to the first post for days, and then finally got involved in this thread merely to respond to @ThunderClap's #2 and make it clear, in context, that I don't believe Republican daddies (remember, post #1 took care to write about some "rightwing" "daddy") are those who typically express hatred toward Jews.
To the contrary. I think Republican daddies (and Republican non-daddies and Republican spaniel owners) tend to SUPPORT, rather than protest, Isreal and they tend to DETEST antisemitism. I wanted to make sure that was clear.
That point now having been made doubly clear, I see no reason to keep responding in this thread. After all, as I said, let's not try to make me the topic, okay? Do you have anything to say about the actual topic? If so, I wish you well, regardless of what you think of me.
