Alternate history...what if ...?

What if the Trojans had said.."nah,just leave it on the beach there..early tomorrow we'll go down and chop it up for firewood."
No it wouldn't...Troy never existed.Why do you keep trying to spoil everyone's threads?
@bunyip
Well, re the Trojan horse. I don't know what the rest room facilities were inside but lets assume there weren't any, so if it (the wooden horse) were left on the beach overnight the soldiers inside would eventually have said, " Bugger this for a game of soldiers" (in ancient Greek obviously) and gone on to sneak into Troy under cover of darkness and the result would have been the same (more or less).

However I do think that part of the point of these ancient myth type stories, true or not, was to show the cleverness of the winners, sometimes tricking their opponents without (much) bloodshed.
Then they got the spoils, loot, women, and slaves, etc.
Easy in easy out.
The REAL questions regarding the Trojan War are "what if the Acheans had just let Telemonian Ajax beat everyone up?" and "What if Aphrodite said 'Aeneas is a grown man, dammit, he can take care of himself.'?"
EDIT: Also, what if the Greeks had decided to build a giant wooden badger?
@clousems
Hm, some interesting ideas there. Do they have badgers in that region?
Perhaps a giant Seahorse as the males of that species carry the unborn young to maturity. The soldiers could have disembarked from the pouch.
Would have made a better tale I think.
What if Fredrick Barbarossa hadn't missed out on his local YMCA's swimming classes?
@chessspy1
Whilst I unabashedly applaud your depth of marine biology knowledge,I respectfully suggest that a nation which laid claim to greatness due to it having been squirted out of the pouch of such a girly-fish as a seahorse would rapidly become a laughing stock back then.
No...the horse was the way to go,IMO.
@clousems
You were on the right track,but if you opt for the Trojan Badger,don't mess about.Go Trojan Honey Badger.
PS I just realised what an incredibly hilarious bon mot I made when I said "depth of marine biology".
