Tournaments in bullet, blitz, rapid and classic are actually held twice a year, for all other variants - really once.
Many people know about this, but what is the reason?

There are six time controls in standard chess where yearly arenas are held (no Ultrabullet yearly arena), so it is possible to hold them twice a year (i.e. every six months), but the year does not have enough months to do the same for eight variants.

Perhaps you misunderstood me.
I meant that it misleads people. Such a tournament in fact becomes twice as less significant and, accordingly, the winner will hang on the honor board for six months instead of a year, as one might think based on the name.

I'll practice a bit of necromancy.
An interesting observation. It would indeed be more accurate to call them something else. But usually, no one pays much attention to this, as tournament names are sometimes chosen not based on their exact frequency or content but for their conciseness and appealing sound, as well as a rough alignment with their meaning. Apparently, they thought 'Biannual Arena and Semiannual Arena' doesn’t sound great or catchy, and creating a separate category for semi-annual tournaments was probably deemed unnecessary. Plus, that would eliminate annual tournaments for those time controls, turning them into semi-annual ones. Or they’d have to come up with distinguishing features for annual tournaments, which would create inconsistencies with the current annual tournaments that actually happen once a year. And it’s not that hard to find out how often certain tournaments are held. So, technically, you’re right, but they’re unlikely to change it, as it doesn’t really bother anyone, and it would cause a lot of hassle.

So they can be done just once a year and there will be no hassle.

Yes, you're right, this can be a solution too. But this would reduce the amount of tournaments in popular time controlls and perhaps Lichess devs think that there is no need to do it.
Probably user experiense was prioritized over formal precision and while almost all players completely happy the way it works now there will not be changes anytime soon. But from a formality point of view you're right.

I don't think that a person who expected to be on the honor board for a year will be happy that it will be cut in half. The same applies to the rest, but to a lesser extent, because the "annual" arenas are quite long and difficult.

Well, now you're trying to speak for them. I think they can say for themselfes just fine. You can write them PM and ask by yourself how they feel about it or try to find topic on a forum where they complaining about it. If there are none or if they'll say that they don't care much, then, probably, they are completely ok with it.

Many people simply don't know about this. And I'm speaking from the point of view of honesty. And from this point of view, there can be no other opinion.

If they don't know then they don't care. This is the answer. If you want to prove that this irritates them you should ask them in PM or find any complains from the winners of those tournaments.
I don't see any problem with honesty. Lichess doesn't hide Yearly tornaments and anyone who is interested can check schedule and see how ofter Yearly tournaments are held. And there are no anywhere in a rules of Lichess said that name of the tournament should be alined with it's frequncy. So there is no problem from honesty point.
As you see there can be other opinions. But I don't say that you are wrong from formality's point. You're right. It's just not so important for most of the players and while it is this way I don't thinbk that any changes will be done.
