I suggestion for a great new feature would be to make the lichess master database and the imported games database searchable with (players, game, result, ...) as parameters.

I agree. I was looking for this yesterday and couldn't find it.

Hopefully people create studies from the best of these games and hopefully there is a convenient way to search for the best game studies?

I totally agree with OP. @Toadofsky Does your suggestion really address the intent for a searchable database feature? Your answer seems to suggest that user created studies of "best games" would help me find a list of games where Aronian won as black f.ex.
I don't think we're asking to copy all of Chessbase database search functionality: where we can search games by tactical and strategic motifs, material imbalance, and features of the position etc. But having certain parameters for search (player, result, tournament, opening...) would be a good improvement imo.

My suggestion is naively optimistic and purposefully vague as to solicit specific feedback. I only brought up the idea since I think it scales well.
Popular studies may be found at http://lichess.org/study/all/popular but right now there is no "best games" filter.

I don't think people will create studies for all games in the database.
I think a search function for both the lichess master database and the user import database would be of great value since both will probably contain many interesting and famous games.
I don't really understand the point in building comprehensive databases if they aren't searchable.
If I'm looking for Anand-Kamsky 1993 Tourney X., how the hell would I find it? Then I have to import it myself from somewhere else although it's already in the database.

#6 If you're looking for Anand-Kamsky 1993 etc. you would buy ChessBase because we're not going to pirate their content.

Is this the reason for no search function? Copyright issues?
*I don't know if there is such a game Anand-Kamsky 1993. It was just an example.

Individual games are not subject to copyright, however under U.S. law game collections are. But Lichess isn't U.S.-based so more likely the reason is that there are plenty of other databases online and reinventing the wheel doesn't make sense even supposing it is legal.

With that reasoning it wouidn't make sense to have a chess server at all since there are other chess servers already.
