Dear Lichess .......When an opponent , let's say has one move with his king before checkmate with let's say against a king and queen , he should be given one minute left on his clock to make that last move , one of my opponents just waited 19 minutes to see if I would give up before finally resigning , it takes ten seconds to see you've got one move left and you're mated ,19 minutes I had to sit there , please give them a minute and then send a warning , now I've wasted half an hour sending report about him and writing this rant , if there's one move for checkmate, one minute to make move please xxx I know the code maybe difficult but this is several if not ten times this has happened to me and , and, why is it always provisional players ? I missed an important message off a friend who needs my help because I couldn't leave the game xxx
This seems like it would have the danger of ruining a live game; I've survived a few games where an opponent had a checkmate opportunity and didn't see it, but if you suddenly change the clock when checkmate opportunities are available, people are going to focus and find them.
This also happens otb too which is carzy. My friend was playing someone lower rated than him, he had mate in 1 and opponent only has 2 moves to make. He thinks for like 10 mins and my friend calls tournament director. As the director comes he makes his move quickly.

@SimonBirch are you going to pay for the compute to analyses all current games going on for mate in one on every move
sure you could start at move 30 or something still would be alot of compute wasted and there is a system inplace that deals with stallers its just we cant see if people get play banned meaning we think they do nothing because that is all we can see
I second the clock change problem proposed by @dnowmects. But I understand the pain of having to wait forever for an opponent to make a move as well. Currently, all you can do is use Lichess.org/report and report them for stalling. Anything else added on to the game would take too much code, and also likely lead to people seeing mates they ddin't previously see before.
lichess already punishes stallers and the 1 minute timer thing helps people spot mate in one which shouldnt be a thing
The chess clock itself already mitigates stalling by forcing a game terminus before the next day. If the opponent really is faced with a forced mate in one, then premove the checkmate and open another tab to watch YT or read an article or something. If you lack the virtue of patience, then people will try to rob you of the satisfaction of victory using the tactic you mentioned and others (like uncharitable remarks in the comments). If you have victory in hand, then it is humility and winning with grace that will put you in a position of power over them. All it takes is choosing to be unbothered—a difficult choice, but not an impossible one.

...You really chose an online chess game over communicating with a friend? That either says something about how important the message was after all or about your mentality. Maybe it's worth some serious introspection.

Words are like weapons , they wound ,sometimes , but if you feel superior and masterful about judging my mentality , you go ahead ,if it made you feel better.
I've had my mentality judged ever since I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia over a quarter of a century ago and have been questioning it ever since. With introspection ,so please be careful about what you say and who you say it to before making your superior intellectual judgement. I Thankyou next time to mind your own and not make things personal , I wasn't being personal but you did get personal and there was absolutely no need other than to cut me .
