Lichess (Moderators) is unable to detect players using computer chess engine for their assistance..!

@fortrak Maybe you haven't noticed, but Lichess is a website. There is no installation. Also, Lichess never asked me to enter my admin password, so I'm pretty confident my operating system prevented them from installing anything without my permission.

@sheckley666 You need not OS permission to infect browser. This kind of malware is called trojan, and no operating system protects from it: only user by not visiting bad websites or using antivirus program having strong trojan database.

The concept "trojan" has nothing to do with infecting a browser. What you describe is called "Drive-by-download", and it works only by using bugs in browsers. It's interesting that lichess is obviously constantly able to quickly find and use these browser bugs for all the different browsers and OS's.

I think the problem is fortrak does not understnad how IP tracking works I think he thinks that when you accept terms and conditions you are consenting to allow Lichess to place a cookie or something on your browser to record your IP when in fact IP tracking occurs when Lichess servers record the IP from which the data is sent to them from. Everything happens server side and nothing is added to the client side

fortrak understands very well how IP tracking works and that implementing everything on the server side is not enough to track user if he closes his browser and changes his IP. But I tested: Lichess still tracks the user. This is why I use the word malware to denote this kind of tracking.

#45 The word malware has a well-recognized definition already. You don't see me calling you an arsonist just because I disagree with you; the word arsonist has a definition.

Didn't read all of the thread, just the first page. But I have to confirm that Lichess' cheat detection is often flawed.
Not too long ago, I reported for someone who cheated me in atomic, didn't work.
I told the case to someone who said he has good succession with reporting people, so he did it and it worked.
However, as more than 3 days had passed, there was no rating refund. The theory is "hey, we can catch all cheaters early on if you report them", but theory and practice is a huge difference!
Also I lost 5 points to another atomic cheater, he was caught fast but I had already gained 2 points from further playing, and only got 3 refunded. WHY??
It's kinda awkward if an algorithm cannot detect cases when a human with basic intellect can.
The system needs improvement, and especially the rating refund system is flawed. At this point you could remove refunds entirely because you say "keep playing and it balances" anyway. But this would give cheaters a huge satisfaction and it would be immoral as you know. So why are there no full unconditional refunds?

#47 For years I have argued for removal of all rating refunds, but it's probably not going to occur.

Sapienti sat. I did not expect that my posts are going to be welcomed, there are too many aggressively obedient users. But some may start to think.

again, I want the complete opposite, I want full refunds regardless of the circumstances. I'm complaining about the inconsistencies of the system and the hypocritical saying of "it will balance out" - by the same logic, if you think that refunds sometimes distort the rating pool a bit too much, won't it balance out itself anyway? Cheaters take rating points from you, the effect of getting more ratings from being rated 10 points later is only like 0.02 points per game I guess, so you get these points back as if the cheating game never happened.
