I don't think the problem has been fixed. I think the messages are only being stored when your pal is online. Otherwise the message will be cleared out when page gets refreshed, so the text sent while your pal is offline seems to go to limbo.

Probably there is some new chat or notification feature which is crashing and causing the message to be lost.
