hey Thibault,

why don't you do the following sanity checks after decoding the FEN string into a chess.Board:

• a player may not have more than 16 pieces (including pawns)

• a player must have excatly one king

• a player may not have more than 9 queens

• a player may not have more than 10 rooks

• a player may not have more than 10 bishops

• a player may not have more than 10 knights

• a player may not have more than 8 pawns

• pawns may not be placed at rank 1 or rank 8

it would be a simple yet effective way to prevent people from doing rubbish like this:

I've applied sanity checks for games against the AI, for some exotic position can break stockfish.

But I let the friend games be as fancy as one wants to, on purpose. It allows for interresting variants

Plus, they're not really FEN violations.
