Honestly, down votes are something that is pretty helpful when someone is just intent on saying negative things and such, or if they give inaccurate information.
It's funny to see people on this thread say "don't worry about how many down votes you get" when they are people who are just consistently toxic in these forums and get almost unanimously down voted for VERY good reasons.
Like when everybody who reds the thread down votes you cause you said "people below 1500 should quit chess" it means your opinion just objectively sucks. It doesn't mean we're all "haters", it's the community calling you out on your harmful opinions. Obviously it's not always this simple, but you get the point.
Sorry, but we should get discouraged with serial downvoters
If I had 50 dislikes on my post I would be happy, that means at least 50 people took time to read my post and wasted their time.
