Feature Request: Remove the dislike function

#6 I agree. (Especially in the laughing emote, Can't understand whether the reaction is laughing or shy)

I actually do enjoy giving thumbs down to people who deserve them. On the other hand, spiteful downvotes reveal immature people. Also there are zero statistics about upvotes and downvotes, so it's not too much of a big deal.

First, I want to say that I'm so proud that the term "serial downvoter" has stuck.
Anyways, here's a three-part response to the topic:

I. RESPONSES TO SOME OF THE IDEAS PROPOSED
#1: If you have upvotes, you need downvotes. Otherwise, people don't have the option to disagree with something. I'm firmly in the camp of "reactions on lichess are a bad idea", but it would be a worse idea to remove any reactions that provide negative reinforcement.
#2: I actually really like the idea proposed by @Mahith1708 in no. 2, even though I know it doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of being implemented, both for technical and moral reasons. I would actually like it if the total number of each reaction was limited, so people would actually think about what they really agree with, what they really disagree with, and what they don't care about.
#5: Forum etiquette is just the application of netiquette to lichess forums. You can't arbitrarily change it without changing the expectations of internet users.

II. MY IDEAS ON THE MATTER:
I'd like it if lichess would implement a "reaction ban" for those people who blatantly abuse the reaction system. This would take care of both serial downvoters and reaction spammers. I'd also like it if there were a system where the poster could disable reactions to their own post

III. DEALING WITH SERIAL DOWNVOTERS:
If you are really bothered by these guys, remember that they are spending quite a bit of time finding and reading your posts, which means you are interesting. Take pride in your attraction of trolls!
A while ago, there was a group of people who actually admitted to trolling me with reactions. I responded by organizing a team (the Anti-Clousems Cabal) to parody them. It was quite fun.
Basically: don't take serial downvoters seriously.

I think I have a better idea: if we block a user then they can't dislike our posts anymore. This way, if someone is "serial downvoting" our posts, then we just need to block them.

me trying to decide if tomislav2010 is serial disliking everything or just having a problem with 6 posts in a row

#17 This way you could just block everyone who has disliked your message, there appears a room for abuse...

I never downvote anyone twice on reddit, because there's a block feature so I can hide the trolls/spammers.

I doubt that LiChess is going to devote development resources to enhancing the forums so we can block people.

Therefore the downvote button is the only way I have to tell people that I wish they'd stop destructive trolling.
