Using latest version of Firefox. More than half the time I play, I get "Error Loading Engine" when I try to get the computer to suggest moves in the Analysis Board. Once it happens, it seems to be a permanent problem for the rest of the day.
I've played here for years, using Firefox. I have NO idea what can be wrong. It has been the case today, so anyone who wants to investigate from the "bug" team can just look at my games from 5/10/23. If that will help. If it is some problem with my computer, what could it be? This has been going on for several weeks.

Hello,
Which device and Firefox version are you using? On a game analysis page, in the hamburger menu on the bottom left of the move list, can you try reducing the "Memory" parameter see if it changes anything?

Definitely try Sol's tip. Another way to help the "bug" team is with a console log. To get one, launch firefox developer tools with ctrl-shift-i and select the console tab. Then load (or reload) lichess.org/analysis and make the error happen. Right after it fails, copy everything in your console, paste it in a reply here, and ping me. Good luck.

Hi,
I independently discovered the hamburger menu "Memory" parameter solution, which worked. It was set to zero memory. Perhaps due to an update of the computer??? Not sure how that got set to zero, but it was.
I appreciate the tip on how to create a "console log." Now if I can just find this email thread again when I need that tip, some months or years from now...

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. Today, I got "Error Loading Engine" again. Went to the Memory slider, and it was back to zero!
I reset it to 64 MB, tried to load engine again, but still it failed. I closed the tab and reopened it, but without logging out, and the problem remains. I t h i n k the slider had reverted to zero again, but I don't recall for sure (played a game first, then tried to access engine for that game).
So I thought I would send the "console log." But, having opened the console with ctrl shift "i", I find that it says "Accesibility inspector lets you examine the current page's accessibility tree, which is used by screen readers and other assistive technologies. Learn more
Accessibility service can not be turned on. It is turned off via accessibility services privacy preferences."
Huh?
Please bear in mind that I don't know much, if anything, about this "console."
Thanks.

Woah, your slider actually says "0 MB" or is it just set all the way to the left?

My engine works fine. But I do see this in my Firefox console: SF: No such option: Analysis Contempt
Sure doesn't sound great.

That can be safely ignored. I believe it's a configuration command that we send to all engines, and some (like browser-based NNUE stockfish) don't appear to support it. But we always send it as UCI engines are supposed to ignore unknown options. I will look into suppressing that in the logs.

@schlawg - I got stockfish to hang; opened the log window, reloaded the page, and got stockfish to hang again. I don't see anything suspicious, but here it is anyway.

Oops, sorry. I'm mixing things up. Maybe I shouldn't have intruded in this thread. I do NOT see the "Error Loading Engine" message. Instead, Stockfish is just hanging. It says "Calculating Moves..." but just sits there.
