Complaint: Disappointment with moderators in forums

lichess.org/forum/general-chess-discussion/consistent-1600s-ratings-has-now-disappeared threads like these should be closed fast.
I'm inclined to agree in this instance, but only because the person who started the thread has since closed their account. The concern raised was probably genuine in the sense that the player genuinely thinks that cheating is rife, however misguided that might be.

Just like threads by cheaters.
Here I don't agree. Players who have cheated don't get to spoil the fun by playing against fair players here any more, and that's good enough for me. I see no reason why they cannot start discussions.

But my opinion is irrelevant. Moderation is an art which will be practised in different ways by different staff members, and their are many valid ways of doing it. There may be a "house style" which all moderators must adhere to, but that won't cover all situations (if it exists at all). There must be plenty of scope for different styles of moderating.

Speaking very generally, I see a well run set of forums which are a pleasure to take part in here. That speaks volumes for the general quality of the moderating team.

But I like to have a few constants in my life.

There's a "house rule" to close all threads of "why am I banned" or "I can't join arenas" etc. on sight, because they're all answered with "see appeal" and the appeal is the only proper place for the affected person to discuss their situation. Any outside discussion serves no purpose.

The latter also applies for paranoiac threads - they're just plain dumb - I didn't say they should be closed for the exact same reasons, I just said they should be closed equally swiftly.
