Can't create game with specific side any more

You can read here about the app: github.com/lichess-org/lila/pull/15969

That does not clarify the "problem".
I still think the "problem" is artificial.

For me the link shows, that there is a solution to change the colour choosing function in the apps too. I am sure, that the Thibault will not forget the apps and do it later.

You are right, so long the app allows to pick a colour, the problem seems to be artificial.

So long? As long as?
Anyway the problem is artificial, since its a "made up" problem and very few people like the solution.
Most disturbing is, that people are called "Abusers".
You did read the definition of abusing i hope.
So if you can legally, without any rule against it, use a feature, you are called "Abuser"
In court this would not make a chance.
But, someone called an abuser could have a very strong case in the same court.

There is a new phenomenon.
For Non-rated games it is possible, without penalty, to simply resign games until the desired color is reached.
This means that the so-called abuse has turned into something else.
I therefore propose to bring back the option of choice of color for non-rated games.

though, then there is no reason for rated games, too. Because the rating "advantage" was never the reason to disable white/black in the first place.

I tried the phone application, chose white, but got served black anyway. So the app function is displayed, but not working.

The issue (if at all) is that quickpairings got automatically matched with colour seekers, thus the missing consent of the opponent was missing. Thus, the feature for casual games was disabled, too.

It is a bad solution, and other solutions are possible, too. Simplest: do not automatch colour seekers with quickpairers. And let colour seekers be displayed in lobby only.

However, the phone app does not seem to have a lobby?

Is this going to be reverted?

Is this going to be reverted?

Knowing lichess and their stubborn behaviour, i doubt.
Once they made up their mind, well its kinda concrete.

I was very sorry to see the "choose your colour" feature disabled, as I found it very useful for practising specific openings - with both Black and White. I hope it will be restored sometime in the future. In the meantime, regrettably, I have found myself resorting more and more to chess.com. Fingers crossed they don't disable the colour choice feature too!
