Lichess' two-factor authentication system is there for additional security for the user against advertising or rickroll type links and fake sites. Lichess does not follow you and your data remains private on Lichess. Lichess will not share any information about anyone. Lichess does not collect ANY data because Lichess is a server and your data is only hosted on the server. Two-factor authentication is recommended for titled players, streamers or people with responsibilities because their popularity makes them more vulnerable to what I mentioned above.
