Avoid unranked players (elo with a ?)

@nadjarostowa said in #18:

I think it wouldn't really have any bad side effects (well, maybe for you, as you seem to play unrated almost exclusively, and would be sidelined by many other players then).

But then, excluding and discriminating against random players simply seems the wrong thing to support. So in a way, the system helps you to not make a fool out of yourself.

I have no issues if someone wouldn't like to play with me and for that reason filter me out.

In fact I will dislike to discover that someone was paired with me against his will, and by the rules can't abort or resign (so is forced to pay a game he don't like).
Have others, to do things unhappy against their will is bad IMHO. Have such situations for no reason is very bad.

Ps:
Choosing a game mate is not discriminating, otherwise anyone here discriminate players who play different time control, chess variant or have high or low ranking..

Well, we explain why this attitude is wrong, so people can fix it.

.... or have the letter "x" in their username, or live in Europe, or have brown eyes.

Sorry, but your argument is wrong again. To be clear: I don't care at all if you only like to play against blue-eyed unicorns with exactly 12 letters in their username. But I object to the idea that lichess should let you filter for that.

Good to know you are the one who know what is right and what is wrong.
And the fact that you like to educate us is even better.
Thank you

Please stop inventing arguments I never made.
Discriminate people by look is wrong and have nothing to do with what I said; I am talking about score filters in not ranked games.
Lichess allow filter by score AFAIK

If I can choose to play only player with score 1000 or above (a thing I can do) it's because it's not considered discriminatory.
But if the score is a question mark, basically it can be anything.. again I am talking of unrated games where stabilise the score from a statistical standpoint is not an issue.

If filter by scoring is not inclusive enough, please remove the functionality completely, as it's today is just a buggy implementation

this has been suggested and rejected as a suggestion so often*, i am surprised that
(1) people are still willing to discuss it for either side of the argument and
(2) the mods do not close it immediately
it is extremely unlikely happen. and when it does happen, it probably won't happen because of one additional forum topic. discussing it further is really a huge waste of everyone's time.
