any way to disable arrows during game play?

There is no way to disable arrows, you should/can practice restraining yourself from drawing arrows, but in analysis, opening an analysis board (lichess.org/analysis) and clicking on the hamburger menu icon on the right side, you should see a new setting "Show variation arrows" and can disable the white arrows there.
