Your policy on blocking?

Speaking for myself, I only play 15+10 and 5+3 games, and I don't recall opponents playing stupidly;

Indeed this is more a thing in bullet and shorter blitz. Playing into losing positions usually only bears fruit when you can get the other side very low on time and then wait for their blunders or flagging.

I also think that players who prefer 5+3 or 15+10 are rather incompatible with that mindset. ;-)

Just out of curiosity, what's your personal policy for blocking people? For me, it's mainly two things: 1)anyone who in a losing position just runs out the clock or cusses you out after losing (or sometimes winning), and 2) anyone who does early queen- or knight/bishop attacks (you know which ones I mean). If someone opens with that, I immediatly forfeit the match and block whoever it was. Yes yes, I know it's a perfectly valid strategy, but having spent time in the 900-ish zone where 8 out 10 games started with that one opening I simply cant stand it anymore!

Free win if you ever play against me, just FYI.

why would you block and resign the game for just an opening
u just lose rating especially if its 8 out of 10 games lol

• They block me.
• They clock-stall.
• They position-stall.
• They spam my inbox.
• They offer draws in clearly worse positions.
• They ask me to tell someone to unblock them.
• They behave aggressively towards me in forums or PMs.
• They cheat against me (I’m considering changing that; I’m running out of slots to block people. Plus, this one doesn’t annoy me nearly as much as the others).

Currently, I sit at an impression 241 blocks. One of captain Black Lightning Shadow's greatest achievements.

lichess lobby is cooked lol

#7: Chess is a hobby: It’s something that we do to waste time. If you don’t want your time to be wasted, then don't waste it yourself. Instead, do something productive with your life. Go to a gym, clean your room, use the internet to learn something about the world that you live in. Those things would be more productive than moving pieces on a board.

chess in NOT a waste of time
plus, idk if u do, some ppl enjoy it

The emotions of the moment has often filled my heart. But when I learned to let go, I gradually cleared that blockage completely.

I block everyone I suspect of cheating or if they're rude in chat, that's about it.

I never block anyone unless

  1. I suspect they're cheating.
  2. They're sending DMs I don't want to receive.

Everything else I just don't care enough.

I have 109 blocks, Blocking is automate response for any abusive behaviour, mostly not making a move.

I'm generally an easy-going person here, but these behaviours will earn a block:

  • Spamming;
  • Foul and abusive language, either during games or in forums;
  • Multiple draw offers in a hopeless position (unless I'm about to flag, in which case thank you!);
  • Running out the clock in a hopeless position instead of resigning.
