Win Quitters/Etiquette

I'm not saying walking away without a rematch chance is the antithesis of sportsmanship. I'm saying that you can not give a rematch and not be a douche, but it would be even nicer if you gave a rematch chance, even without having to, yes? :)
That's all I'm saying.

Cheers
You're endlessly arguing two contradictory things:

- People are neither obligated nor entitled to a rematch.
- People who decline rematches are guilty of poor sportsmanship.

These are opposites. They cannot both be true. And yet you keep repeating both of them ad nauseam.

You wrote this:

"You CAN ignore it. And if you do, who cares."

The answer is you. You care.
Often there are situations where I have only time left for exactly one game, say from station to station. Is there someone who calls this poor sportsmanship?
"- People who decline rematches are guilty of poor sportsmanship."

No, but the opposite is true.
The point is not to punish people who don't give rematches by giving them a hit with the moral whip.
The point is to encourage people to display this form of sportsmanship.

Has this cleared everything up?
Not really. Does this beer you speak of have anything to do with Bobby Fischer? is there some code here that I am missing?

Yes, I think we all agree that we should all be more polite in on line chess games. We should all chat, and after that we should all have a nice, fine glass of golden, bubbly beer. A lager if it's Summer and a nice porter or a glass of real ale in winter! And poetry, what the chess world needs is poetry! A.E. Housman or even some Dylan Thomas....oh yeah!
Yes, yes, mon ami. I have already read your post- cuddly chess etc - very good, very good - but I am serious! I actually believe being polite on line is a good thing! I also believe poetry is a good thing , if its in form that is. And I also believe drinking beer is good.... nice, makes my brain feel good. But tell me this - for it has been praying on my mind much of late - what is your favourite beer? Do tell - I am most anxious to know@CM Sarg0n
Have you tried the dark DAB? I, being in Australia, have only tried it once, but it left me with a terrific memory. A lovely, grainy taste much like the feeling one gets when some one is nice to you in the chat on lichess, or when some one accepts your rematch challenge! But tell me - what poets? What poets do you like? This also burns away at me - I feel I need to know this@CM Sarg0n
No one is stating the obvious here so I'll say it. "Sportsmanship" is a sucker's whine. Whining for you to add additional rules to your behavior that make you at a disadvantage. No fair, you beat me. A real sport would tie one hand behind their back. Blah blah blah. Don't fall for it. Follow the rules or you get banned/penalized etc. Calculate the risks and the costs. And then do what is best for your own outcomes. Don't let whiners trick you into tying one hand behind your back. Sportsmanship is a joke.

This whole "you can ignore it" thing--if that is true why do we ban rude speech? Racial slurs? How about we allow people to post whatever gifs and jpegs they want, no holds barred? "You can just ignore it." Bullshit you can. This is another invalid line of argument.
