why why why is the rematch button mandatory?

Lichess knows well at least 99% of remtches are trolls but for some reason they still don't give me the disable rematch option. Takebacks could also be disabled. Why not rematches? Is lichess encouraging toxic plays? The button is obnoxiously big, with flashing and boing-boing animation that is very distracting.

Why don't I just ignore the rematches? Well, I could ignore 1 or 2, but what about 7578 rematch requests? Isn't that tiring? I don't feel special just because I have an above average useless numbers, but for some (I mean a lot of) people those random useless numbers are like daughter to them. Please tell me I can reduce my rating so that I don't get anymore rematches//...

What is a troll regarding rematches? Offering and not playing, or cancelling? I would say this is exceedingly rare.

Not sure where your 99 % number comes from, but my take is that the number of "problematic" rematches is < 5 %, for me anyway.

but for some reason they still don't give me the disable rematch option.

Interesting idea. Not sure if it is worth it, though. For example, I really very rarely do a rematch. Except in some cases, where you find a good match and keep on playing like 20 bullet games or so in a row. I totally get it if you say "I do not do this. Ever".

I absolutely don't know what you mean here. What is so toxic about having a rematch option? And if someone really bothers you with the rematch button (happens for me like once a month or so), you might want to report them, if you feel it is worth your time - but if you close the game, or switch to analysis, you won't get it anyway.

What? I cannot remember any animations here... has something changed?

Are you maybe confusing rematch offers with individual challenges, which come up as notifications (from the top)?

Again, are you sure you mean rematches, and not those things that pop up at the top? Those are very different things. If you want to see 7578 rematch requests, you need to stay on your old game for quite a while!

If it is indeed the custom manual challenge as I suspect, you can disable them altogether here:

https://lichess.org/account/preferences/privacy#letOtherPlayersChallengeYou

And I would agree that there are some players that are really annoying in that regard, and the only way to get rid of those is to block them, or disable challenges altogether. For me, it luckily happens not as often.

Well, not relaly 99%, a closer number would be 97%.

I know someone would get it. I know how to bulid a website and it's a very easy thing to do for a huge benefit. I could do it in 5 minutes if I have all the accesses.

Do you play in mobile? I play in PC. In mobile I rmeember the animation is only flashing and not boing-boing

Could you explain that? What is, in your opinion, trolling behaviour or what is toxic about rematch offers?

Do you want to say that out of your 1141 games (257 rated) played so far, there were only ~35 (~8) where your opponent either did not request a rematch or the rematch request was genuine (i.e. not "troll")?

I could do it in 5 minutes if I have all the accesses.
Then you might spend those 5 minutes, create a pull request on github and see if it is accepted.

When my lower rating opponent send a rematch request just because the game was "close". To them the game was close, even though they know I'm playing with 1000 ping.

When my opponent request a rematch after I checkmated them with only spending 1 second on my time. They know I'm tilting and they want to send and send and send rematches to tilt me more.

When my opponent win because I don't want to play boring games, for example I would sacrifice a queen for a knight rather than to play an english opening. They know I don't want another english game, and they keep sending rematches.

and a lot more

Of course I'm exaggerating a bit. You know this is internet and everyone says one thing and hides their hand behind their back (not assuming the other interneter can't see the hand). A more realistic number would be 96%.

Then you might spend those 5 minutes, create a pull request on github and see if it is accepted.

Why do you think I would spend my precious 5 minutes to a site that I know would not accept the pull request? And I said "if I have ALL THE ACCESSES" in other word I should have the access to shut down the site and change someone's rating via database, not just lousy pull requests.

I would double/triple/quadrouple/quintouple/sextouple/septouple/octouple/nonouple/decouple down as much as i want.

None of that sound like trolling or toxic. It sounds like you have problems with your own mindeset during playing.

To be honest, the whole comment #7 does.

We could argue whether or not they're trolling until the end of the universe with nobody winning. It could, however be prevented with just one humble "disable rematch" option.

You see this? Even an innocent, kind hearted peasant who humbly want to improve his licess experience could get labelled "troll".
