In chess.com im an 1100 at rapid and on lichess im a 1600. Is this normal?

In chess.com your rating starts at 1000 but in lichess its 1500

Yes. On chess.com I got completely destroyed by 1100/1200 rapid rated players all the time. They are usually booked up, even at 900 rating many of them seem to know perfect theory in the sharpest lines up till 20 moves. However I even fail to solve the chess CAPTCHA here on lichess, so maybe it's not only my opponents ;-) ....

Brother Chesscom starts from 1200. Lichess.org 1500 you must have understood.

Yes very weird actually. If you play 1700s on chess.com, they're very natural and human-like- they don't know many openings and make a lot of mistakes, but a lot of 1200-1400s behave like bots- they're booked-up and are much more accurate, especially of you give them a tactical opportunity to exploit. This is so much more the case in the swiss tournaments.

Rating system measure relative strength i.e you ability to win against player in same rating pool. So the absolute value of rating is function how rating is initialised and who else plays in the pool. Also to a small degree on algorithm used to estimate but this affect more on speed the rating converges not so much the absolute values unless there the algorithm has vastly different initial rating setting - like Elo vs Glicko has. So no two pools have same absolute number meaning same skill level.

Some advice, dont worry about those rating figures, they dont give true happiness or any spectacular rewards.
Over on chess.com i couldnt break 1800 rapid.
I have some theories about the whole thing, but i wont expose my thoughts on that.
Dont get deceived, by wanting to climb the success ladder in online chess...
