Why is cheating in chess wrong?

My thought is that chess is a hard game. Me and my opponent who's cheating are in this together. I am thinking that if you are not good in chess it's okay. I lost some points last night because I tried to be fancy. It happens to everyone else. If you're not comfortable with playing chess, quit it.

Note: I am not calling someone cheater.

What is the point of cheating?
In prize tournaments, yes there is an incentive to cheat, but it is simply too difficult to do so successfully. Online prize events are usually monitored or short time controls, and cheating OTB is just extremely difficult with all the anti-cheating regulations imposed by FIDE, and if you get caught, your reputation will be non-existant forever, not to mention cheating in prize event is a literal crime which could land jail-time .

But if there is no prize, what are you cheating for anyway? You know your rating is gained illegitimatelly, you are not improving at all, mostly because a 4000 rated chess bot is playing for you.
There is no incentive, the only thing accomplished is a very fancy way to waste your time, and someone else's time, but the consequences for getting caught are high .

In short cheating is just not worth the risks you take.

I thought you were going to make a sophisticated argument about ratings. I mean, there is a legit point to be made there as to a certain type of theoretical cheating. If someone plays all their games with a 2400 strength AI in non-prize games, how does it hurt any players? It shouldn't really impact your rating. But in practice, this isn't how people cheat. Sometimes they cheat with a 3200 strength engine, and sometimes they don't cheat at all, or only cheat on certain moves, and get themselves into trouble on other moves. So purely from a ratings perspective, the cheater screws you with wildly inconsistent strength of play, far more than a normal unassisted player.

cheating in chess is completely fine. i have read the bible cover to cover, and nowhere does it say "thou shalt not use a chess engine to cheat at a board game". checkmate, atheists.

Too bad that the bible is the wrong source to ask for advice.
Chess players worship Caissa - and she says "Don't even think about it!"
