Why doesnt adjournment exist anymore?

Whether it exists (as an option) is one question, whether the organizer of a particular event (tournament, match) allows it to be used in that event is a different question.

Players could use engines, programs, books, databases, explorer, and other outside help when the game would be adjourned.

Books and outside help (helping with analysis of adjourned games used to be big part of the second's role) were used even before engines became stronger than human players. Sure, one could argue that it's quite different today with everyone having affordable software more capable than any human. But IMHO it actually makes things more fair than giving a big advantage to players who could afford more and stronger seconds to the work for them.
