Why does lichess inflate it's rating ?

Yes, I have read the FAQ.
Different systems, and Of course the rating is relative.
My question is why.
On chess.com, (which i used to play on, but i much prefer the UI of this site) , the rating i feel is more indicative of the actual fide rating. And sure, the ratings are relative, but don't we all want to have at least some semblance of our real life rating?
To give an example, I used to have a rating of around 1650 on chess.com blitz. Then I entered a blitz tournament with some rated players and my performance was very close to that.
So If lichess has the ability to adjust the ratings to be closer to that of fide, why don't they? What's the gain?

Chess.com ratings are inflated too: 300 points for lower-rateds and 200 for 2000+.

@MrPushwood
My rating on chess.com is consistently lower, so does that mean that it's even more inflated on here?
Guess i'm a 1200 player lmao

Another way to say what the faq says, if lichess had the exact same rating system as chesscom you still wouldn't be able to compare your rating on chesscom with lichess.

I don't know why but lichess decided the average rating would be around 1500, that's the goal, it might drift. I guess chesscom decided their average rating would be 1200? I'm not really sure about that, but it sounds like it has drifted higher.

@olt96 Rating here is not related to FIDE rating in anyway - I once saw a guy who have a FIDE rating much higher than lichess rating, probably due to not paying attention online.

The player pool of chess.com is also very complicated, judging from the amount of rating refunded everyday.

Lichess inflates it's ratings so that you can brag about it

Rating are inflated. Inflation is change of value. There is probably small drift allways to some direction depending are newcomers to pool stronger or weaker than 1500 . Making ratings match some other pools is pointless as they would eventually drift apart. If you wanna know yout OTB strength there is only one way: go and play. Estimating from onliner rating will just not work with more than 200 points accuracy anyway. So chess.com rating is not "indicative" really nor is lichess. Neither makes attempt to be so. Why woudl they? Correlation exist so mapping can be computed as the few year old pic shows: not much of a connection.
