Why do I always get matched with players who have a much higher rating than me?

Sure, it might make me a better player, but it's just discouraging because I'm new and all it really does is it pushes down my rating and makes me not want to return to this site. Is it because there aren't enough players online? Seriously, a player with a 1300 rating shouldn't be matched with a player of 2000+. Really.

If you create the game, you can modify the rating range who sees your game in the list using the slider at the bottom of the create game screen.

There are plenty of players online most of the time...you may wait an extra 30 seconds if you make the range really tight but it should still be fine.

Make the restriction on the game with a rating of 1300. Create such a game. And play for fun. Success!

Excellent. Thanks for the tips.

Also, there is no "matching" - some sites have it. Here people choose their opponents from the challenges list. Hard to imagine on the other hand, why someone rated 2000+ should choose an opponent with a rating of 1300 ...
Most of your opponents will probably be at least sllightly higher rated then you - 1300 is below the average. Do some exercises between the games - you will see the results very fast. Good luck.
