When is it a good idea to trade queens?

Well i get this doubt quite often when playing and even afterwards when i analyse the game with engine it doesn't get very clear when i should trade queens and when i should not. I'm talking specifically about mid and endgames. I've noticed times where stockfish would greatly reject the idea of the exchange (even when the remaining material was about the same) while sometimes it would just go for it. Anyways, what should one look for when the trading option pops up?

If you have an unsafe king in a position where your opponents king is safe, trade queens for sure. If you are up a good amount of material (2 pawns or any amount of major/minor pieces,) trading queens MAY make your position easier to convert into a win. If you are in an endgame, and your passed pawns are closer to promoting, and you can still stop your opponents passed pawns (If they have any,) consider a queen trade IF you feel it will be beneficial. In any position where you feel your opponents queen will be more powerful and cause more trouble than your own queen, trading may be a good idea. If you can cause your opponent a great amount of structural damage or un-coordinate their pieces in a way that may decide the game by trading queens, do it!

Basically, trade queens when you know it will give you an advantage. It may be hard to tell when that is so, but keep these ideas in mind and you'l be on your way to finding reasons of your own to trade the ladies.

EDIT; On the topic of structural damage; be weary of opening dangerous files that your opponents rooks can make use of in the early middle game, sometimes it is fine, other times you may have to work around serious pressure from the rooks, which a queen would be able to help alleviate. Usually it is best for you to wait for your opponent to initiate a trade, ever if it doubles your pawns, that leave a file for your rooks to control.
