Today I started thinking about a game that I'd watched live in the 42nd Chess Olympiad 2016, in which Michael Adams ground a queen and pawns endgame for 166 moves against a young Indonesian, Muhammad Ali.

This makes me wonder, have any longer games been played in the Olympiad's near-century of history?

With a bit of digging I've found Mphungt-Gerrard -- Elmer Prudente from the most recent Olympiad (101 moves).

This is an odd one though, it looks like White is playing on almost frivolously in a very lost position.
There's also Barthelemy Ndjila -- Wisuwat Teerapadpaisit from the same event, also 101 moves.

Not on the scale of Adams' game though!
Ashvin Jotee -- Robin Lai 2018 (106 moves)

The Englishmen struck again with Gawain Jones -- Krikor Mekhitarian 2018 (117 moves)

I've found the answer to my question!
There was a longer game: Abdul Al-Othman -- Yit San Fong, played for 167 moves in the 43rd Olympiad 2018.

I won't post any more, but I wonder what other mammoth Olympiad games are lurking out there...
