What triggers "left the game"?

I received and answered a phone call while playing on my mobile, when I finished the call and came back to the game I still have seven minutes left, but the app says "[My color] has left the game..." So I'm wondering is it because the phone call was too long (4 minutes)? But if I was purely thinking for 4 minutes, would I trigger myself "left the game"?

Maybe you computer went sleep which cause connection to break between the computer and lichess server. This happens easily with phone/tablet as they are aggressive on power savings.

I see, I should probably check my power saving setting, thanks

Or...
You could stop talking on the phone while your opponent is waiting for you to make your move.

But the clock is still ticking and I lost the time, which I think is enough penalty and players have the freedom to choose how to spend their time, just like going to toilet during an offline match without pausing the clock, there's nothing wrong with choosing not to hold their pee or poo

Whenever I have to leave a game I almost always press "resign" as I don't know how long it might take. Few exceptions when I know it will only take a short time.

The whole thing "I can use my time however I wish" is at times egotistical bullshit imo, at least when you end up just letting your opponent wait for no benefit other than being an arse.

If you let your opponent wait 4 minutes and still have 7 left, it's still okayish I guess. Reasonable, but enters the grey zone. What if the call takes longer?

Even then, you've given time odds.

Yeah I guess it depends. If your goal is to have a high rating, then you are delighted to have your opponent leave. If you just want to banter around, then it sucks to wait, even if you get 3000 rating.

What triggers "left the game", in my experience, is my opponent just dropped a piece to a 1 move blunder and is sulking... but I get that's not really in the spirit of what you asked ;)

They should change their abort mechanism in no way do you have to make a move in 30 sec; they need a start button. I like to think before I start a classical game and go over my plan. with this abort, they run now You can't think about just what opening you want. This site is better than it was I hope how they get up to par someday it has the vibe of a high-tech ghetto playground not flattering.
