it only had an average centipawn loss of 35 making just one blunder. Im rated 1700 in rapid but how the hell is a 1300-1500 rated player supposed to pull off a win against stockfish 1? Stockfish 1 is really overpowered imo

Stockfish 1 is totally overpowered. It beats me in 1+0 bullet most of the time, and I'm 1850, and I think stockfish 2 beats me almost always in blitz 3+0 iirc

I just tried a slow game, it didn't play well but also it didn't let me win easily

We should look into making it play real bad. New players would appreciate it.

I would certainly appreciate making the strength relative to the time control!
Aside: lmao at 'lichess.org, a hippie communist chess server for drug fueled atheists.'

Stockfish has also added elo game strengths as UCI_option for some time now.
It would be great if Lichess would also offer these Elo levels to choose from in addition to the levels 1-8, so that the level could be adjusted more precisely to the own playing strength.

UCI_Elo:
If enabled by UCI_LimitStrength, aim for an engine strength of the given Elo. This Elo rating has been calibrated at a time control of 60s+0.6s and anchored to CCRL 40/4.

IKR???! He's supposed to be weak! Like try playing with him on Bullet, he just gets strong out of nowhere, even on Unlimited as well but on Racing Kings, Antichess and Atomic he stays the same, on Horde when he's playing as white, he gets strong all of a sudden, on black he's his usual strength, idk how he does it, on the Variants he's easy.

@onlyplaytired I understand, I had to do a LOT of takebacks to beat him.

My greatest fear is when stockfish 1 starts making knight moves in bullet :') Absolutely decimates your ranks in ways that no human can

Is there no way for us to get different engines on here playing their "best" for different levels? That'd increase the game quality.
Look at thibault's game, for example. That only happens when you use a "strong engine" and reduce its playing strength -- then it makes moves that doesn't really make any sense in terms of contributing to one's playing style. No one would play 2...Qd6 instead of 2...Qxd5. It's like the computer is giving you a free chance on purpose, and should you miss that, you can be darn sure it'll push you to a corner you before you can even tell what's going on. That inconsistent and unexpected move pattern beats the purpose of playing against the computer (because even when weakened, the "engine" is still calculating far more ahead than it should).
Also why 8 levels?! That's unnecessarily too much. Make it 5 [1000-1500-2000-2500-3000+ (max power)]. Like I said, unless we somehow get different engines at least for the [1000-1500-2000] categories, it doesn't matter even if we have 80 levels. Playing against "today's" strong engines (mind you we are talking about the strongest) won't improve anyone's chess, neither at full strength nor when weakened
