1st recognise your weaknesses & positions you find it critical.
2nd take a note about these issues.
3rd create a study project to cover your weaknesses & the criticals.

GM Aman Hambleton says "Quantity over quality". Play 10000 games just for fun and then look back :-)

I'm afraid there is no best method to improve.

Good principles, calculation training, no junk fund, reading some books, working endings, playing tournaments,
several jours each day, tactics (woodpecker or not), sparing partners, chessable, process thinking, analysis, learning according to your elo, memorization of some famous games, training program, strategy...

stop caring about improving and start to enjoy the game
nobody cares about anyones rating, so don't make a big deal out of it
