What are the hashtag numbers in the computer analysis?

I've noticed that sometimes, instead of listing a number, it will have a hashtag then numeral by the move (e.g. #8). What does that mean?

#x means White has checkmate in x number of moves
#-x means Black has checkmate in x number of moves
