Unique REAL Chess Players I have met' ... IM Igor Ivanov "he used to say ... can i show u my win vs Karpov ? IM Kamran " The Shah" Shirazi ... After he won the tournament seen looking at 1h4 seriously just thinking over variations' . I think i had seen him "disappear" at the board vs an opponant in time trouble slowing his heartbeat so calmly the other guy almost died it seemed and lost horribly . Then there were so many others to mention over the years but these stick out @Kdrockss

That's awesome. Will have to remember to refer to that account the next time someone is on the forum whining about not getting the white pieces often enough.

I will say, for some (strange?) reason, I usually prefer playing black myself.

Wow, he actually spoke to you? Didn't say a word to me (just sat there reading the paper the whole game).

He used to visit Labates Ches Centre in Anaheim alot as well as running around winning the Chicken Grand Priz ... He mentioned this to my friend ZDanny Oakes about Karpov . I did lose to him about 4 times . I had a " Black Streak" going in minor events 34 games with 30 wins 4 draws as Black but on both ends i had losses to IM Idor Ivanov ... probably I played in some Grand Prix point tournaments those 2 . @MrPushwood I believe his wife was elizabeth Jameson she was around 1500 uscf
