Have you tried turning off rating from being displayed? It can be done in your user preferences.
I knew I adjusted my play based my opponent's rating but I had no idea how much it changes your user experience especially in tournaments. You don't assume anything about your opponent from their rating because you can't see their rating.
You push in every game, no prior expectations of an easy or hard game ahead. The chess moves speak for themselves.
Its a magical experience.

I stopped because I like selecting games from the lobby and I would have to turn the setting off every time I wanted to pick a game in the lobby

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Elo, is in fact, Glicko, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Glicko-2.

thanks edited to rating instead of elo rating, now you can focus on the point rather than the nomenclature
