Travel Chess Set

My most recent purchase was a Venture Board. I mainly use it for opening and endgame study. However, i would like to use this to play others when I travel. I cannot read the position when my opponents pieces are turned around. Any suggestions on smaller boards you have used to play with smaller 3D travel chess sets. Please ignore this post if you do not have experiences with these types of boards. Thank you.

it's a remake of a set I had as a child. It's really good (A. Karpov mentioned in an interview that he had been taking his set everywhere from 1966 to 1985) but unfortunately the e-shop doesn't seem to be shipping abroad so likely not much of a tip for you.

that's a cool little set, @mkubecek. My own magnetic travel set is about the same size, but yours is much nicer.

A few years ago I received that same exact set as a gift, in rosewood. It’s a quality travel set, and I like it a lot! We've had no trouble with distinguishing the pieces from each other or with overall board vision.

I have a cheap, plastic magnetic set that I take to places like doctors offices, car garages, ... where I dont have a table.

When I travel I have a light weight, plastic, 'analysis set' with 2.5 inch king and vinyl board. I take that traveling because it is so small and light weight I dont notice it in my backpack. (I even cut off the border of the vinyl board.) It is much smaller and lighter than a magnetic set.

But I also wish I had the set in the link!
