Hello,
I dont know if this is something that has been done or asked about, but i had an idea:
A chess tournament where you get a set amount of time +seconds per move, but instead of resetting for each game your clock is preserved between games. Would probably work best in a swiss style tournament.
I think it would promote a fast game, even when high on time, as playing faster would make it possible to play more games and therefore win more!
What do you think?

In other words, the last round would be a lottery whether you are paired with someone who saved a lot of time through the tournament or someone who is going to be under severe time pressure from the start. Doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

I agree that for a traditional tournament it wouldn’t be that fun. It would pair better with a swiss style tournament, where there is no bracket and you just play until your time is up.
Or maybe not Swiss, i mean like the one that seems most prevalent on lichess

I was talking about swiss tournaments in comment #2. But the problem would be the same in any system, I'm afraid.
