Time out and waiting for another player to leave the game

Many players who don't think they can win try to wait out their opponents and hope they will leave so they gain points without earning them through a chess victory. Is it possible to install a button that would alert Lichess that someone has not moved within a reasonable period, say five minutes?

It is very frustrating waiting for someone to move who doesn't intend to move. Taking time to think when the game becomes complex is reasonable but the players who concern me are those who stop moving after the first three or four moves or who won't move when they are on the verge of being checkmated but wait until time out even it is ten or fifteen minutes away.

You don't need to report this. Lichess detects it automatically. The player will get a warning, and if they do it too much they will get a temporary ban.

(If you do need to report somebody, the button is on their user page.)

It happens so often. The warning doesn't come until the end of the game. It would be better if it came after several minutes.

@JGregD If you're playing longer time controls, the other player is entitled to use all of their time - however that does not excuse NOT making a move and letting their clock run down hoping you give up and lichess will sort that out itself after the game by issuing a warning.

We've all had that. I was baited in the chat by an opponent after I refused several take backs after he played a bad move. His intention was obvious after that through his comments. Rather than play this pathetic fool I resigned. It was the wrong thing to do and next time i'll do something else for the remainder of the time.

So patience is the order of the day or play short games and then if you encounter a complete moron at least you won't have long to wait if they want to let their clock run out.

Their time, their move. If i play x time control it means im willing to play for the entirety of the match to fight for the points. even if that means flagging him while i have .000001 seconds. I can always open another tab and watch youtube or something.
