JOHN HEALY
First played Chess aged 30 in prison after spending 15 yrs as a homeless alcoholic.
He became obsessed with Chess, quit drinking & authored 'CoffeeHouse Chess Tactics'
IMO only his personal issues stopped him reaching the higher echelons of English ChessThere's a doc on Netflix about him called 'Barbaric Genius'
Its crazy how a board game can get someone out of the dumpster. It's amazing and so good. What a great story on how someone turned his life around. I love chess so much, one thing about it I love is how it includes everyone and how it is so beautiful in many ways.
