chesspractice is an unsecure website. Firefox doesn't load it.
@lorb
How do I install lichess locally to play offline?
Hi jupp53. I just visited chesspractice via Firefox and get https and it loads fine in latest Firefox.
@Human77 use the app. See lichess.org/mobile
I do not have a mobile at the moment.
Not going into technical details, but Lichess is online only. Its mobile version can handle chess engine(s) therefore you can play chess offline against engine(s). However to play against engines any chess software will do.
Scid is a free cross-platform software available Linux, Mac and Windows too, and Stockfish is a good engine.
Scid vs PC
@Human77 @AroHar
lichess.org is online only, but the software is not. since it's open source you can install a copy on your own machine, which will act as the server so no internet connection will be required. For just playing against the computer it is of course much easier to use the app. There is a guide how to install a local version of lichess on github: https://github.com/ornicar/lila/wiki/Lichess-Development-Onboarding
@lorb OK, I've made my assumption that Human77 is not a IT developer in Unix/Linux environment and he wouldn't be interested in those things. Yeah I might have been wrong talking only of the simple way. They need to have the possibility to make their own choices!! ;)
