SCID Database Search

Control r did nothing. So i found a selectable diamond box at the bottom in the Header Search that says IGNORE (Reset filter). After selecting it, I have to make sure to erase anything that could be used to search the database, and then click the Search button. Then, and only then, does it reset.

It also has selectable And & Or restrictions for the search, so that might be the answer to my second question.

Thanks for the diligence in trying to help. If not for your asking about the filter, I probably would not have found it.

I have Scid 4.7.0 on Windows 10. I am a Mac person, but it stopped working on the newer OS.

I know about the games window, and what is shown after a search. Them telling me that I need to understand the filter, without telling me the "tricks" to the filter is a bummer. One button could reset everything, but instead, it's a multi-part process that you hope not to get wrong, making the process longer. Ugh. lol

Unfortunately I do not know more about it, but I hope I could help you a little bit! Let me know if you solved the problem!

@odoaker2015 Yes, I was saying that I solved the problem, and you helped guide me to it. Much appreciated! If you learn of an easier and more efficient method, please let me know.

Q: When I do a simple search of a database in SCID (even from the clipboard designating the targeted database), I am unable to reset it back to zero afterward (all/2.8M, instead of the sorted 1023/2.8M). I end up closing the database every time and starting over.

A: In the gamelist click the magnifying glass icon (the 2nd one from the top).
Five buttons will appear, the first one (from the top) resets the filter.

Q: I would also like to know how to search the games found for wins with black after I initially search the current board, for example.

A: At the end of the search dialogs there are 3 options: AND (restrict the filter), OR (add to the filter), RESET (ignore the filter).
Let's say you first search for all the games played by Carlsen.
Next, when you do another search for all the games played by Kramink, if you select:
AND -> you get all the games played between Carlsen and Kramink
OR -> you get all the games played by Carlsen or Kramnik
RESET -> you get all the games played by Kraminik (the previous searches are ignored).
