The cheating in anonymous is out of control. It's kind of hilarious that my anonymous opponent would suddenly play like Alphago after a few random blunders. Worse, he might play like a grandmaster right from the beginning, cheating in every move.
The cheaters have evolved recently. They would play a dubious opening e.g. the Chigorin variation or Alekhine defense, making you believe that they're not cheating then they start cheating in the middle game.
Couldn't lichess do something about the anonymous cheating? Permanent IP ban perhaps? I really don't want to give up anonymous because of some compulsive cheaters.

Why not get a (free) account and just play 'non-anonymously'? It's more rewarding, offers many more benefits as far as training goes, and gives you the chance to make friends of other chessplayers online. What's so great about anonymous play that you would want to put up with perceived disadvantages?

you can play casual games ? maybe you didn't know that or maybe its not the same as playing "anonymous"... but its kind of a no-brainer that that mode has no moderation , it would probably waste resources to moderate it but whose to say your opponent cheated ?

You have no evidence of any cheating . I used to play Unrated with the given 1500 ... 5000 games I played losing 94 drawing 47 It was an experiment to test Arapad ELOs formula's for Ratings . Playing well vs players way lower rated than you is possible at the 5 min time control ... I'm now 2404 Blitz with a high of 2419 . People can look at many games to see but ussualy many are losing because of dubious moves Without Study try not to blame people if they play well

How is that supposed to work? If someone gets banned he logs out from his provider connection then he logs in again and he has another IP. And the poor guy who by coincidence had received the banned IP from his provider wonders why he suddenly has the red "violating the ToS" flag on his Lichess account.
Play under your account: Problem solved.
