17 moves into a game, my opponent was down a queen for a piece. He took a full minute or more -- thought he might have rage left without resigning. Then I auto-win and it says "Cheat Detected" as to my opponent. He wasnt just down material, he had a terrible position, so who would bother to cheat only then? He and I had a discussion in chat in which he was puzzled and annoyed. It seems very unlikely he cheated to me, so I'm wondering what happened. Like he went web surfing a bit to clear his head, and it thought he opened a chess enginge or something?

Whenever you use the analysis board with Stockfish, it says "cheat detected". Even if he is analysing another game. Even if he doesn't pay attention to the evaluations. Nobody knows whether he "analyses" the other game happening to reach exactly the position of the game with you ...
So it's nothing serious. Just never use the analysis board while playing a game, which is a plain matter of politeness to the opponent, btw.
And if he watches some porn to "clear his head", that won't result in cheat detected. I'd really be amazed if somebody clamed Lichess does that.

hi, similar "ban" situation just happened to me in move 14, while I was playing Haidarzabadneh in lichess.org/tournament/21cU9v22. Suddely it says black resigned (me), and I find myself beeing banned by lichess.
before the turnament startet I was watching to another turnament and followed some games. I kept the open tabs open, for beeing able to continue watching them later, after my turnament.
Could this have leaded to my ban ?

I wonder, why you you think so, I didn ́t. I lost e5 early and tryed to stabilize my bad position. no cheating at all was done.

You can appeal to Lichess if you really weren't cheating. Don't worry about @EvilPyrokar, some people like to blame others without insight or evidence, but fortunately the people at Lichess aren't like that.

You had an analysis board open in a different tab!

Yeah I have this worry as well. Last few months I have been using LucasChess+Stockfish to create a set of chess problems based on my old games. As it takes some time to analyse the games I often leave it in the background switching back and forth to check if the analysis is complete etc. I make a point of never playing chess if I am doing this for fear of triggering some anti-cheat-detection system. It's a bit of a pain and is responsible for me not actually playing much chess at all!
Still nearly finished, have 2000+ home-made problems now - doubling up to remove 'noddy' mistakes and pointless problems.
Was thinking of starting to play classical chess but worried I might be tempted to solve a few problems in-between moves - or at least have an alternative chess board to look at, as some 'won' endgames don't require much attention. Would be interested in any comments from classical players as to whether this should be a concern.
