Hey guys,
some days ago I've downloaded the free database-manager Scid vs. PC, which is a very helpful tool. I'm an windows user (Windows 7).
Here's my problem:
I've downloaded some free databases (the likes of caissabase, kingbase etc.) as well, but Scid failed to open all of them. I even cannot open a single game from my own lichess games on it.
In fact I cannot use the whole thing for now.
The type of errors Scid is indicating look like this:
a.) Error Opening PGN File. (for PGNs)
b.) Error Open index file. Can't open. (for sg4 or sgi)
c.) Or even: file doesn't exist.
All in all I can neither open big databases, which maybe have to be cut short first, nor sigular games in both formats (PGN, sg4/sgi) Scid can work with. I can literally do nothing with it atm.
Has anybody a clue what's going on there? Have I to do something special during installation or add a line in the console, which opens every time I start Scid vs. PC? Or should I save the downloaded databases in a special folder on my PC?
I'm thankful for every help. :)
