Preference for Playing with Bots and/vs. Computers

I've recently become quite intrigued by the different preferences gamers have when it comes to playing against bots, such as Maia1, and/versus playing against traditional computer opponents. What is the reason behind some users preferring using bots/computer games, especially why some might prefer the bots. Is it because playing against bots allows for rated games? Or is there something unique about the experience that simulates playing against an actual human opponent more closely?

While playing against a computer offers the flexibility to adjust the level of difficulty, bots like Maia1 seem to offer a distinct, perhaps more personal gaming experience (?).

I'm curious to hear your thoughts and experiences on this matter. Why do you think some users prefer playing with bots or computer games, and do you have a preference yourself? Any insights or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
