Piece animation speed...... does it make a difference?

I have my piece animation on normal, I’m thinking of changing it to fast as people who have it on fast have an advantage over their opponents as being strong players , do you think this true? Does it make psychological difference? I like being relaxed that’s why I have it set to normal. I’d be interested in views , SOJB

I imagine there is a small advantage in bullet, and a slight advantage in blitz. Not time controls you seem to care about.

As a psychological difference, I suppose the fast moves would inspire haste, and the slow moves would allow relaxed calculation.

Fast = more confident? Putting your opponent at psychological disadvantage?

I have mine set to "none" so as to lose less time in low-on-time scenarios. I don't know if it works that way, but might as well try!

My hypothesis: The effect of the time control itself should totally swamp any potential psychological effect from move animation.

What does none mean?

In preferences there is a piece animations section with the options: none fast normal slow

I think it determines how fast pieces are moved on the board, so having "none" or no animation, would theoretically give you an advantage in blitz and bullet as it is not taking time to move the piece before your eyes, but just shows it there instantly.

Ok thanks so it’s faster than fast thanks
