Hi guys, I was playing a rapid game in which lichess restarted. After a few minutes it said server error and showed a picture of some robot and a girl playing chess. After 5 minutes when I came back it had the same problem. After 10 minutes when I went back, I lost 4 rating points and the reason was that I left the game. Will I get these rating points back?

No, you won't.

There should be an emergency alarm button for situations like this.
Scramble Thunderbirds, launch Stingray and get those lost rating points back because we all know anything can happen in the next half hour!

Lichess rating doesn't mean anything. Just play and enjoy the games, and rating will bounce anyway.

When television was scheduled to run during daylight hours, the BBC used to show a similar caption of a girl standing in front of a TV: no shows on, just white noise and a still. What you have described brings this image to mind.

I have that picture as my lock screen photo.

Same happened to me, I played a move, and my opponent didn't, his clock ran down to zero and then - nothing. No win announcement. Just the board and his zero seconds. I left it there but after a few minutes it was clear that nothing was going to happen. When I checked back later it said I'd lost on time.
I guess I should pay more attention to those "server will restart in..." messages.
