Loosing performance

Well, at that rating, you are unable to play regardless of how you feel.

The only solution for improving is to actually study.

You will need to dedicate a few hours a day for a long time.

The question is, are you willing to do the hard work?

You are so freaking stupid that hurts.

I need advice from some more experienced players. Recently I have a feeling like I am unable to play the game, unable to play it at all. [...]

A good start would be to open up google, search for the "basic chess opening principles" and start using them. Better check several sources instead of only 1 or 2.

Then apply what you have researched for the next 3 weeks in your matches and your game will most likely get to the next level, from where you can start your journey to the then next level again, and again, and again...

Good luck on your LIFELONG chess jouney!

Play slow time controls.

Almost everyone makes blunders in bullet and blitz.

There is nothing as frustrating in chess as playing blunders that under normal circumstances you would never do.

At that rating you should really study openings and do tactics because you will never advance in chess without knowing the principles, if you dont want to study hours on end hire a coach but it can be a bit pricey and it will be a waste of money if you arent dedicated.

A) make sure you don't have something going on that is nagging you at the back of your mind... seems I never can devote my full metal focus if I have something going on.
B) make sure your not stressed... that will effect your game.
C) make sure you don't have allergies going on. Gluten allergies will cause brain fog.. if you have a mild case, eating pizza or bread.. cereal anything hours before.

All that aside...
Play more chess... and study more. You will eventually breakout of the slump. (every body has them and everybody breaks out of them)

I'm 58 & I've never been a decent chess player... Averaging around 1200 elo. No matter what I did ... sub-par results. But I love Chess, so I just kept plugging away at it. I'm now 1690 elo and climbing...

how I'm sleeping and feeling affects my rating.

sun, exercise and good sleep adds 100 points.

no sun, no exercise and bad sleep costs 100 points.

@reallybadplayer27 I can see, you still did not follow my advice, so don't expect anything to change in the near future.

Good luck on your LIFELONG chess jouney, anyways!

You are so freaking stupid that hurts.

But its the truth. I dont mean disrespect, its just what it is. You might know how to move the pieces and some basic stuff at that rating, but getting a good grasp of the game comes at a higher level, a level that I havent even achieved myself.

Chess is a very complex game. You have not even seen the tip of it. You cannot even conceive the depth at your level.

So, if you want to play chess, learn, it takes a long time to do so, as its a hobby for life. You need years of practice and learning. But you have to do the work.

So its up to you if you want to keep moving the pieces randomly or if you want actually learn how to play.

If you want to learn, study.
If you want to feel bad, feel bad. I dont care.

So, thats your advice. Study, practice, takes a long time to kick in in the form of results. Take it or leave it. Its that simple.
